Elli oversees all aspects of Culture Works activities whilst still finding time to get practically involved in our creative workshops
Elli has worked in youth arts across the UK since 1997. A professionally qualified youth worker Elli began her career in a dedicated youth arts venue in Lancashire as part of a community music organization. She then went on to work for five years as part of Norfolk’s Youth Music Action Zone and as Youth Arts Development Officer for Creative Arts East. Elli has also worked as regional coordinator for Arts Award in the eastern region and lead facilitator for the national BBC Blast on Tour.
Elli is particularly committed to, and experienced in, working with young people who are considered hard-to-reach. As a freelance youth arts specialist Elli has worked extensively as a consultant, project manager and evaluator. She regularly works with organisations such as Children’s Services, Her Majesty’s Prison Service, Connexions, Youth Music, local authorities, arts organisations including Future Projects, The Garage, Hub4 and the Arts Council. She has been an Arts Award Trainer and Moderator, Artsmark Validator and Artsplan Trainer. Elli is a member of ENYAN Regional Advisory Panel, recently stepping down as chair after 2 years. She is currently also a consultant for MusicLeader East of England.
In 2008 Elli began Culture Works East, a youth arts company based in Norwich with the aim to enable young people to better reach their potential in all aspects of their lives. Working with a wide range of partners. Culture Works East provides collaborative, innovative and high-quality creative initiatives through consultancy; training; project management and events. Elli and her team make long term relationships with those they work with and this includes the Hip-hop Shakespeare Company, the BBC, Norfolk and Norwich Festival, Future Projects, YMCA, MusicLeader East of England and The Garage.
Elli has two wonderful children and likes to spending time with her friends and singing ( Elli is classically trained as a singer). You may not know this but her love of singing started when she was asked to play Mary in her primary school play, and career highlights have since included singing professionally in an Elvis tribute band ( as the operatic one), and being a backing singer for Jules Holland! Elli also loves to cook.
